Espresso machines can get expensive very quickly, and thus Gevi’s offering an alternative for these people.

As a newcomer, Gevi’s reputation has been skyrocketing. They care about what they produce and how to keep the customers happy. Their coffee machines are made out of solid materials and not some cheap plastic that’s doomed to break at some point.
Besides that, they offer a 12-month replacement or repair warranty on products and they provide customer service to answer technical questions even after 12 months, which is great!
This also means, if you’re not happy with their product, they will not hesitate to take it back and take you through the process of a refund or replacement.
I’m honestly very impressed with how Gevi handles things and I can only see them grow in the future as long as they keep this reputation.

Most customers are very happy with Gevi’s espresso machines but they do say that it feels a bit cheap. This doesn’t interfere with the taste of the espresso, though. People are LOVING the espresso it can produce, especially for the price. Is it cafe barista-level? No. But it’s damn good for the price you pay as long as you get a great grinder.

I do see their customer reviews go down quite a bit for their drip coffee makers. They feel cheap, and break easily and some people even have problems trying to reach support through calls and emails, which is not a good sign.
But then again you have coffee enthusiasts that have nothing bad to say about Gevi’s drip coffee makers, from what I hear it’s kind of a hit or miss with these machines.
Comparisons To Other Similar Brands
Since I’m focused on Gevi’s coffee machines in this article, I want to compare them to other similar brands that focus on that as well.
My personal favorite coffee machine brands are De’Longhi and Breville. They’ve been in the game for a long time and make some excellent coffee, but you do pay the price for that. They offer excellent serviceability and customer support, as well as produce quality machines.
So how does Gevi compare to these two brands? Gevi is okay in that sense but nothing crazy.
De’Longhi and Breville are known to make quality machines that are made out of solid materials and are made for long-lasting periods. Besides that they are such big brands that you don’t even have to go to them for a repair of your espresso machine. Most local coffee machine stores can repair it themselves as they are stocked up on the materials from these brands. This is just not possible with Gevi, at least not for now.
Do I see Gevi going the same way down the road? Maybe, but they have a long way ahead of them before they get there.
De’Longhi and Breville offer incredible customer support, which has been proven over and over again, which puts them in this dominant position on the market for espresso machines.
Does that mean Gevi is bad? Not really, but they do have to step up their game just a little bit. I think they’re an excellent choice to start with if you’re a beginner trying to get into the hobby as they’re cheap and can produce some quality cups of joe.

Pros and Cons of Gevi’s Espresso Machines
Gevi’s espresso machines have quite a bit to offer, so let’s have a look at that. Keep in mind that I’m talking about the Gevi Espresso Machines which are between $150 – $250.
Espresso Quality
Gevi’s espresso quality is above average, which is impressive for their price range. Even though it doesn’t live up to cafe-quality (which I don’t expect for the price), it’s incredibly impressive how they can manage this quality.
Is it better than something like the Breville Bambino? No. But it’s overall above average, especially for the price.
It produces good flavor and a decent bit of crema but it lacks pressure as many of the more expensive models on the market offer. This means that the espresso is always going to be a bit on the weaker side, but still tasty! Just nothing out of the ordinary.
Ease of Use
The user experience for Gevi machines is quite straightforward, just like other espresso machines. It might take a bit of time for beginners to learn how to grind, tamp, and brew espresso, but not any longer than with other machines on the market.
The main problem with Gevi’s machines is that they’re slow. It takes a while to heat up and after pulling a shot it takes a full minute for the boiler to heat up enough to operate the steam wand. This will make your espresso taste flat and lose crema, which isn’t ideal.
This creates another problem where you can’t make another drink right after the first one. The boiler needs to cool down for a good 12 minutes or you can purge a lot of steam from the wand to cool it down faster. Either way, this is simply frustrating and not ideal if you’re looking to brew multiple drinks in a short amount of time.
Ease of Cleaning
The cleaning procedure is again very straightforward. The water tray has a helpful indicator to let you know when it’s full, the descaling process is easy, and the steam wand wipes down easily.
The biggest issue is cleaning the portafilter. It has a tiny plastic piece inside that hangs onto grinds and thus can be slightly awkward to scrub clean.
Milk Quality
The fact that I can even talk about milk quality in this price range is VERY impressive. The steam wand can actually make some great microfoam, but the results are not that great. So, you may be a bit disappointed with the milk quality, but then again, the fact you can even produce microfoam at this price range is incredible.
Value
Even though it can’t produce cafe barista-level espresso, it performs above average for a below-average price. This easily makes it a no-brainer if you’re starting out as a beginner. Sure you will have to get a proper grinder, but still, the costs are nowhere near that of a high-tech espresso machine.

The Bottom Line
Gevi is a great choice for complete beginners that don’t own an espresso machine and want to get into the magic of rich and flavorful espresso. Bang for your buck wise it’s not going to get any better than what Gevi has to offer. Just make sure to get a good coffee grinder as this is very important as well!
Serviceability is somewhat questionable as you probably won’t be able to get your espresso machine repaired at your local coffee machine store. If this is important to you then I recommend De’Longhi or Breville as these brands offer a lot of serviceability.
